Otherwise known as a &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.doctoryogi.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Yogi<\/a>&#8220;, Andrew shifted from his early training as a doctor to pursuing a career as a yoga teacher, massage therapist and anatomy teacher. As more physicians and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2014\/02\/26\/283090357\/integrating-yoga-into-medical-practice-its-more-than-just-relaxation-response\" target=\"_blank\">healthcare industries around the world<\/a> begin to integrate yoga into their <a href=\"http:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/cleansing-healing-potential-raw-foods\/\" target=\"_blank\">healing<\/a> practices, we welcome Andrew as our very own Dr. Yogi !<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Studio-Session-1146-e1435068293167.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1393\" src=\"http:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Studio-Session-1146-e1435068293167.jpg\" alt=\"Studio Session-1146\" width=\"750\" height=\"497\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>How do you incorporate movement into your everyday life?<\/h5>\n<p>No matter how busy my day is, I always make time for mindful, breath-centered movement. Whether this be getting off the bus or tube one stop early and walking, taking the stairs instead of the escalator or rolling my yoga mat out when I wake up, there is always plenty of opportunity. When I have <a href=\"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/yoga-class-410-find-your-feet\" target=\"_blank\">30 minutes or less <\/a>to spare, I use a chin up bar at home for a quick workout. I\u2019m also sure to block out time in my diary each week for a few yoga classes.<\/p>\n<h5>How did you discover yoga and begin practicing regularly?<\/h5>\n<p>I first discovered yoga while I was living in Sydney, though I had been <a href=\"http:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/gaining-perspective-meditation\/\" target=\"_blank\">meditating<\/a> for a few years prior. I noticed a studio on my walk to work and thought I would give it a go. I quickly realised the vast benefits of the practice and was instantly hooked! I made sure that I went to at least two classes each week. When I moved to London, I started practicing <a href=\"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/videos?c=27\" target=\"_blank\">Ashtanga yoga<\/a> and began developing a self practice about five times a week for many years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YOHtfVyAmek\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>Where, when and how do you prefer to practice?<\/h5>\n<p>I used to only ever practice in the early morning, but now I love a late afternoon or early evening practice. I do a lot of <a href=\"http:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/videos?c=26\" target=\"_blank\">Restorative yoga<\/a> at home or go to <a href=\"http:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/videos?c=25\" target=\"_blank\">Hatha<\/a> classes at London\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.triyoga.co.uk\/yoga\" target=\"_blank\">Triyoga studio<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, I adore both Restorative Yoga and <a href=\"http:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/videos?c=28\" target=\"_blank\">Yoga Nidra<\/a>. I come out of class feeling so deeply nourished. Having said that, I love to experiment with a more dynamic practice and have been doing a lot of arm balance training with other teachers.<\/p>\n<h5>How has your journey into teaching been?<\/h5>\n<p>I currently teach hot yoga at Triyoga in London,. The far infrared heat is incredible, I find that my body responds to heat really well. I also teach Restorative and Hatha yoga during private lessons and am currently doing a Yoga Nidra teacher training. I love teaching open level classes for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/challenges\" target=\"_blank\">challenge<\/a> of making the class accessible and safe, with the right amount of challenge, for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Andrew-e1435068659450.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1396\" src=\"http:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Andrew-e1435068659450.jpg\" alt=\"Andrew\" width=\"750\" height=\"462\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Who or what inspires you everyday?<\/h5>\n<p>Life inspires me! I try to always come from a place of genuine gratitude for everything and everyone that is in my life and this always puts me on the path that I need to be on.<\/p>\n<h5>How can we get inspire more men to get on the mat?<\/h5>\n<p>A lot of men are put off from trying yoga because they don&#8217;t think they&#8217;ll be good at it. My definition of being \u201cgood&#8221; at yoga is being aware of your limitations, staying connected to your breath and having an openness to learn.
