The use of a chair will additionally:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2018Raise\u2019 the floor for those who find it hard to get up and down from the ground without assistance.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide support for those who find it difficult to balance, whilst also helping to improve balance in a safe and controlled way.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid putting undue pressure on joints, for example in the case of arthritic knees or hips.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Studies into the benefits of chair yoga for seniors have typically had low numbers of participants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, some results are promising:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3410195\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> 2012 pilot study<\/a> involved men and women with a mean age of 88 at the risk of falls. It deemed chair yoga to be a feasible and safe intervention to improve balance and mobility.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.lww.com\/topicsingeriatricrehabilitation\/abstract\/2019\/10000\/effectiveness_of_chair_yoga_for_improving_the.3.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> 2019 quasi-experimental study<\/a> investigated the effects of a 12-week chair yoga programme on 31 community-dwelling older women who had low levels of physical activity.
