{"id":5225,"date":"2017-10-23T07:44:31","date_gmt":"2017-10-23T07:44:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/?p=5225"},"modified":"2017-10-17T07:44:45","modified_gmt":"2017-10-17T07:44:45","slug":"love-ourselves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/love-ourselves\/","title":{"rendered":"How to love ourselves, just the way we are | Kat&#8217;s Movement Mission"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>When we\u2019re told to love ourselves just the way we are, why is it that so many of us find it nauseating and a little bit daft.<\/h3>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pexels-photo-261749.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5227\" src=\"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pexels-photo-261749.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pexels-photo-261749.jpg 940w, https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pexels-photo-261749-300x190.jpg 300w, https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pexels-photo-261749-768x485.jpg 768w, https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pexels-photo-261749-624x394.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>But if we\u2019re told that eating X will stop ageing, that losing weight will make us hotter and that if we exercise in a certain way, we\u2019ll look younger &#8211; well, we\u2019re right there doing whatever we can to change ourselves.<\/div>\n<h3>But if we\u2019re told to change nothing except how we feel, well, isn\u2019t it funny that we react a little less positive.<\/h3>\n<div>It sometimes takes a lot more effort, self-knowledge, insight and patience to really embrace who we really are with confidence.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I still get well-intentioned emails asking which yoga is best for weight loss. Yes, many folks could do with being a bit lighter, I hear you!<\/div>\n<h3>I just don\u2019t think that yoga is the way forward with that particular goal.<\/h3>\n<div>Our weight and weight issues in this society are so bound up with issues of guilt, shame, being righteous, and for me, yoga is all about living in the moment and learning to live with yourself right in the moment, if you\u2019re size 8 or 18.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>If you need to lose weight well ho hum, there\u2019s a separate project, and the confidence will stand you in good stead to get doing some fitness exercises, eating better and finding people who support your goals.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>For me, the yoga, mindfulness, meditation and mindful movement is about embracing exactly who we are right now this very moment.<\/div>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/sunblock-skincare-healthy-skin-heart-161608.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5230\" src=\"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/sunblock-skincare-healthy-skin-heart-161608.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"454\" srcset=\"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/sunblock-skincare-healthy-skin-heart-161608.jpg 940w, https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/sunblock-skincare-healthy-skin-heart-161608-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/sunblock-skincare-healthy-skin-heart-161608-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/sunblock-skincare-healthy-skin-heart-161608-624x416.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3>I believe that once we truly learn to love ourselves as we are, we will learn to connect with others and accept others as they are.<\/h3>\n<div>We are not a project to be \u2018fixed\u2019, and neither are our partners, families and friends.
