Well, now is the time to prepare because Easter treats don\u2019t have to be of the synthetic \u2018can\u2019t stop eating\u2019 kind.<\/h5>\n<p>Prepare this homemade chocolate bar in less than 15 minutes and keep it in the fridge for Easter Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Go to town with the optional superfoods because these are what will really \u2018up\u2019 the nutritional content of this treat.<\/p>\n<h3>Chocolate and Toffee Bar<\/h3>\n<h5>Toffee bits ingredients<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>2 cups of vegan butter or almond butter<\/li>\n<li>2 cups of brown coconut sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 Tbsp water<\/li>\n<li>A pinch of Himalayan salt<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp vanilla extract<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Chocolate ingredients<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>195g cacao butter<\/li>\n<li>120g cacao powder<\/li>\n<li>8 tablespoons of maple syrup<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon of salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Optional superfoods<\/h5>\n<p>Choose one or two of the following for adding to your chocolate mix:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Goji berries<\/li>\n<li>Chopped pecan nuts<\/li>\n<li>Flaked almonds<\/li>\n<li>Raisins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>To make the hard toffee bits<\/h5>\n<p>Combine the butter, sugar, water and salt in a small pot. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring constantly. Stir until the mixture is a dark amber colour and the temperature is 150 degrees C or 300 degrees F.<\/p>\n<p>Pour the mixture onto a baking tray that has been lined with parchment paper and once it\u2019s cooled place in the fridge for 3 hours until it has hardened. Once hard, break it into small pieces for adding to the chocolate.<\/p>\n<h5>To make the chocolate<\/h5>\n<p>Place a glass bowl into a pot of simmering water.\u00a0 Make sure the bowl is not touching the water but just sitting above it.<\/p>\n<p>Melt the cacao in the bowl, then add all of the cacao powder, maple syrup and salt. Stir the mixture until the ingredients have combined evenly and you have a smooth chocolate.<\/p>\n<p>Then add the broken hard toffee pieces and your superfoods and mix through evenly.<\/p>\n<p>Pour the mixture into a chocolate bar shaped mould. (If you don\u2019t have any shaped moulds line a baking tray with parchment paper and pour the chocolate mix onto that).<\/p>\n<p>Once cooled, place the tray into the fridge to set for at least 3 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Once set, remove the chocolate from the mould and store in an airtight container in the fridge\u2026\u2026if you can resist eating them all straight away.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Lorna&#8217;s top tip for beating sugar cravings<\/h3>\n<p>Although this recipe gives you a much healthier version of traditional Easter treats it still contains sugar which once the Easter holidays are over can still leave you wrangling with cravings. To crush these cravings straight away keep a bottle of raw apple cider vinegar on hand and when you feel that craving creeping up on you take a tablespoon of the vinegar in a small shot glass with a dash of warm water.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5559 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/apple-cider-vinegar-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"apple cider vinegar\" width=\"680\" height=\"907\" srcset=\"https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/apple-cider-vinegar-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/apple-cider-vinegar-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/apple-cider-vinegar-624x832.jpg 624w, https:\/\/movementformodernlife.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/apple-cider-vinegar.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ultimately the best way to get rid of cravings is to avoid refined carbs and sugary foods altogether but I get it, from time to time we all need a little extra help especially after holidays.<\/p>\n<p>Raw apple cider vinegar has been shown to have many, many health benefits.
