Below are the top benefits of yoga that have been proven by science.<\/p>\n<h3>1. It can decrease stress and relieve anxiety<\/h3>\n<p>Stress and anxiety are two of the most common reasons why people enroll in a yoga class. That&#8217;s not really surprising as yoga has this unique way of promoting relaxation and easing stress.<\/p>\n<h5>How is that possible?<\/h5>\n<p>One <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/16319785\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a>\u00a0suggests that it has something to do with the body&#8217;s cortisol level. In that study which was performed in a three-month period, women who practiced yoga were found to have lower cortisol levels. Once you&#8217;re able to feel relaxed, your pain may well subside.<\/p>\n<h3>4. It can improve your sleep<\/h3>\n<p>Not having enough sleep can have some serious negative consequences on your health. These participants practiced a 30-minute yoga session twice a week for more than 30 days. After such time, they noticed an improvement in their cognitive function.<\/p>\n<p>Yoga and the focused breathing it requires can maximize oxygenation.
