Mandala Sun Salutations: Hips
Get moving swiftly with this yoga class! Katarina's mandala flow focuses on finding space in the hip and groin area whist also activating the glutei to stabilise the pelvis. This class is inspired by Katarina's self practice when she only has half hour to make the most of! It's a sure and fast way to get you flowing and sweating creatively. Mandala salutations move 360 degrees around the mat. You'll need two bricks or blocks
Get Off Your Mat
Changing a known route can shift us into the now. This yoga class is a somatic movement flow for those feeling the call to explore even further beyond the four corners of the mat. Great for teachers or those with a more intermediate practice. This is a sequence Naomi often shares in her teacher's practices. A creative, playful and challenging class.
Wind Down Your Day
Love Your Neck, Shoulders & Upper Back
A simple yoga class, perfect as a bookend as a warm up or wind down to the beginning or end of a practice, even perfect as a post-athletic stretch out, or a break during the day. With a focus on with poses that open your shoulders, hips, hamstrings and lower back. You will be doing some seated poses so if you have tender knees or ankles, I recommend having a block for under your pelvis. We use the wall in this practice, so you'll need to be near a wall as a prop. You may want a bolster for legs up the wall, our closing posture, it feels great under the pelvis, it really helps to support hamstring lengthening. You wil need a block and a belt handy.
Playful Movement: Core Integration
Build your strong core with this playful movement class to cultivate integration in the way you move with your body. Strengthen your abdominal region and harness directional clarity in your movement to encourage connectivity of both the upper and lower extremities through your centre. A wonderful class to learn the correct, strong and stable technique for doing many ab strengthening exercises. You will need two bricks.
Playful Movement: Lower Body Focus
A playful, fluid way to work on a series of goddesses, working through including squat, crow pose, wide legged forward band and inversions. This movement class focuses on fluidity and sensitising the lower extremities, particularly developing hip mobility through a sizzling series of goddesses in succession. Also be ready for some wonderfully playful ways to work with your balance and find lightness through transitions. You will need a brick or block.
Playful Movement: Upper Body Focus
Permission To Play: Yoga Jenga!
A game for the mobile and curious who are looking to play! Two rules. To add or to remove. To resist or to surrender. A nice way to ease into bearing weight on your hands and gradually across any parts of your body. A full body game which can even be turned into a dynamic massage. Play to your heart’s content!
Honour Your Cycle: Autumn
A very gentle movement and breathing class for pre-menstrual tension. Release PMT with gentle hip-releasing yoga poses, work on emotional releases through resting poses. This class is nourishing and supportive, to give your body the rest and gentle movements it needs. You will need cushions or a bolster to support your knees during resting pose.
Everybody Flows: Happy Hips & Hamstrings
This yoga class helps to mobilise and feel your hamstrings and the full circumference of your hips, especially if you feel tight or restricted in these regions. To make this class more accessible if you feel inflexible, we will spend a good portion of the practice supine on our backs. You can use this as a preparation for standing poses or to stretch areas of the body which might feel tight after travel, spending long times seated or after running or cycling. You will need a strap, a yoga block or a folded blanket.
Permission To Play (2): Bolster Olympics
A simple game in which we stand on the bolster and perform the 'olympics'! This challenges your balance and fires up your feet, in turn strengthening your legs particularly your ankles. A great workout for the hips, too. Find out what happens when the surface you stand on is not what you’re used to in this fun, playful movement class. You'll need a bolster.
Glute Strengthening Workout
Conditioning exercises to target your glutes! In our yoga practice, glutes (the big muscles in your bottom) can get neglected. But strong glutes can really help you to strengthen and stabilise your hips and lower back. This class has some strong moves which the less strong and mobile will find tricky, but this class is recommended to be repeated frequently as a great addition to your yoga practice.
Hip Yin Yoga: Above The Knees - Below The Navel
A hip-focused Yin Yoga class. In this class we replace intensity of form with length of time, so we hold shapes for minutes in order to move deeply from within. This hip-focused class is perfect for those of us with a sedentary lifestyle, who spend too much time seated, especially at desks or in the car, or for athletes, especially runners and cyclists who can suffer from tight hips, which can cause back troubles. You may need blocks, blankets, bricks and a bolster with this class.
Post Run Stretch
Step By Step Into Flying Splits
A tutorial to show you the best way to approach, work toward and a step by step guide into the Flying Splits, or Eka Pada Koudinyasana I. Starting with plank for building arm strength (we recommend daily plank for strength building), then some hamstring and hip warm-ups. We move via hanumanasana (the splits) and into first the modified pose, and then into the full version of the pose. You will need 2 bricks and a folded blanket.
A more gentle vinyasa yoga class, perfect to come home to yourself anytime you're needing a more gentle flow, but perfect for early evening, in that gap between coming home and preparing for the rest of the evening. Get grounded and stretched, with a hip focus for those of us who work sitting down all day. A perfect release from the day!
