Liberate Your Hips: A Yin/Yang Flow
This yoga class is a mix between yin and yang to increase mobility in the hip joint. Starting with yin yoga and Qigong, it then gently flows towards some more yang poses to work the inner and outer hips and to free up the spine for a lovely balanced way to liberate the whole body. This class is perfect for a slightly gentler morning choice or in the evening if you've spent the day seated or standing. Working with the water element, it brings softness and a sense of letting go. You will need two bricks and a strap.
Yin for Ankles, Knees and Hips
The perfect yin yoga class for those of us who spend a lot of time in shoes, standing up or sitting at a desk. It is equally great after a long day's hiking! Use this class to regain mobility in your feet and ankles and nourish your knees and hips. Yin yoga involves long holding of the poses; stay so long as you are comfortable but, as ever, if you feel any discomfort, do come out of the pose. You will need a block.
Honour Your Cycle: Autumn
A very gentle movement and breathing class for pre-menstrual tension. Release PMT with gentle hip-releasing yoga poses, work on emotional releases through resting poses. This class is nourishing and supportive, to give your body the rest and gentle movements it needs. You will need cushions or a bolster to support your knees during resting pose.
Balancing Yang and Yin
This class is, we think, the perfect balance! With balance of movement and stillness. The first part of the class is focused on fluid movement, and the second part is more restorative, a yin class. With plenty of hip stretches, the class is ideal for stretching after periods of sitting or after work or travel. We love practicing this class early evening, first to move to get the stress of the day moving out of your body, and then the yin to soften and release into the evening. You might need some blocks or cushions for support during the yin part of the practice.
Hip Yin Yoga: Above The Knees - Below The Navel
A hip-focused Yin Yoga class. In this class we replace intensity of form with length of time, so we hold shapes for minutes in order to move deeply from within. This hip-focused class is perfect for those of us with a sedentary lifestyle, who spend too much time seated, especially at desks or in the car, or for athletes, especially runners and cyclists who can suffer from tight hips, which can cause back troubles. You may need blocks, blankets, bricks and a bolster with this class.
Slow it down hatha
A lovely, short yin-inspired hatha yoga class, superb for settling down after a long day's work. With a focus on releasing tension, especially held in the hips, this is wonderful to unwind tension after sitting all day or before bed to feel nourished and restored. You will need a belt.
Yin Hip Opener
A calming Yin yoga class with a focus on the hips, great for after a tough sports practice - hip openers are ideal for runners, cyclists, triathletes - and perfect for after a long car journey or a long, seated day at work. A beautifully restorative class focusing on finding ease and deep breaths through opening the hips and releasing the lower spine.
Deep Tissue Stretch
This yin class is perfect for releasing the deep fascia, or connective tissue underneath the muscle, which is really resistent to stretching and often can only be really released by a deep tissue massage or a very deep fascia stretch. All athletes, cyclists, runners and type A personalities will benefit from this class and it's an ideal class to take after a vigourous vinyasa yoga class.
