Saskia began practising yoga in 1999. In 2000 she discovered the Ashtanga system which became her staple practice from there on. Early 2003 saw her travel to Mysore, to study with Sri K Pattabhi Jois and his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy.... A trip which unexpectedly extended itself to the best part of the consecutive five years. A motorcycle accident in 2003 inspired her to use the practice to strengthen her knowledge of the system as a remedial tool. She remained in Mysore living, working as a creative entrepreneur and studying daily at KPJAY, returning to the UK for three to four months at a time. She became authorized to teach the Ashtanga system in 2005 by Sri K Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Rangaswamy.
Saskia's teaching focuses on using the yoga practice as a tool to live fuller and more profound lives. Her approach is organic focused on providing a practice based on individual needs in the development of healthy body/mind mechanics, alignment, flow and relationship awareness of breath. She teaches Astanga Vinyasa, Vinyasa flow & Yin. Her motto; it's about fun, creativity, collaboration, ideas and support. There is quirk and wit in the world around you, just go to a yoga class and watch someone try to get into position. Grace is not in perfection but in imperfection and in the ability to breathe to be present ! Saskia teaches at Indaba yoga, London.
