Acro Fun In The Sun

What better way to while away a summer afternoon than heading to the park with a friend? And when you get there, why not strengthen your body, mind and friendship by practicing a little Acro Yoga?

What is Acro Yoga?

Acroyoga is a fusion of yoga, acrobatics and Thai massage. It’s a group activity involving three roles, a base, a flyer and a spotter. If you’re really lucky you will have an extra person around to be the photographer too!

The base usually lies supine and balances the flyer on their upturned hands and feet. The flier meanwhile engages their core and gets some air time. The spotter assumes a ninja role and ensures that everyone remains safe.

Do I need to be gymnast?

AcroYoga may seem like a pastime for the young, bendy and strong but is actually highly accessible for all ages and abilities. The London Acro Ladies’ students range from  4-75 year olds and their aim is to make it inclusive!!

With AcroYoga the group mission is for the base to balance the flyer safely in the air with the help of the spotter. Our Acroyoga tutorials are here to help the seemingly impossible become possible. Grab a friend, a partner or a child and take to the skies!

>>Acro Yoga 1: Calibration>>

The first class is a calibration, where you learn to work with your partner, and trust your partner during the very basics of Acro Yoga work. Building alignment, strength and trust in one another.

Why should I take Acro to the Park?

AcroYoga has a growing global community and the chances are you wont be the only AcroYogi in the park. It’s a fun and inclusive practice and often inspires those around you to give it a go also.

It’s a great way to get chatting to people which can otherwise be tricky when busy lives and mobile phones tend to be the priority.

Another benefit of practicing in the park is that the soft grass makes a nice mat for the base and landing area for the flyer!

Be prepared for lots of fun!

As you get into AcroYoga you will want more tutorials! We have a range of these from UK certified AcroYoga teachers, London Acro Ladies and AcroYoga Dance.
