Explore the power of fascia – the body’s intelligent, elastic connective tissue that profoundly influences how we move, feel, recover and age. Drawing on the work of Vanda Scaravelli , contemporary fascial science and biotensegrity-based movement principles, this workshop offers practical, evidence-informed ways to cultivate elasticity, reduce unnecessary tension, and support fluid, resilient movement at any age.

Modern research shows that fascia is not passive tissue, but a highly adaptable, sensory-rich system that responds to how we move, load, and rest. Stress, injury, repetitive patterns, or prolonged inactivity can reduce fascial elasticity – often experienced as stiffness, discomfort, or loss of confidence in movement. The good news? Fascia responds positively to intelligent, varied, elastic movement.

This workshop translates emerging science into simple, embodied practices you can feel immediately.

What we’ll gain:

  • Greater fluidity, balance, and power
  • Reduced tension and stiffness and protective holding
  • Improved joint health, posture, and movement efficiency
  • Stronger, more elastic movement without strain
  • Increased confidence in daily life, sport, or yoga
  • Support for long-term mobility and healthy aging

We’ll explore:

  • What fascia is and why it matters for pain-free, sustainable movement
  • How habitual movement patterns affect stiffness,  ease or discomfort
  • Fascial elasticity: how to restore spring, recoil and adaptability
  • Biotensegrity principles: balancing tension and compression for whole-body strength
  • Movement approaches that support vitality,  longevity and nervous system release

Suitable for all bodies and experience levels — no prior yoga experience needed.
Open to anyone interested in improving mobility, strength, and resilience through an evidence-informed movement approach.

Originally a professional dancer, Catherine Annis discovered yoga as a teenager in the 1970s. She’s explored many styles of yoga during her yoga journey, including Iyengar, Sivananda and Astanga but finds the strong, deep and meditative approach of Vanda Scaravelli most nourishing.

Catherine’s practice and teaching focuses on deepening physical awareness and alignment to reveal the natural freedom of the body, particularly the spine.

Cost:

We know that our community sometimes face real cost-dilemmas and that our wellbeing practices often suffer when life gets hard.

Know that you have our full support whenever you need it.

We therefore offer a ‘Pay As You Feel’ for our MFML workshops.

There is a suggested price, which we ask you to pay, if you have the means. The suggested price is the ‘true cost’ of running the workshop, and this is £35.

If, however, finances are getting in the way of you joining, you are welcome to pay what you can afford so that you can still benefit and participate. This is the Buddhist system of Dana. The minimum that we can accept is £15, because as a small business we similarly need to be mindful of our cost considerations.
