Satyam is a yoga centre in Cambridge offering both studio and online classes. We have a superb teaching team, made up of mostly senior teachers, some of whom teach internationally. We offer a variety of classes, from Vinyasa Flow styles such as Jivamukti and Forrest Yoga, to Hatha Yoga, with styles such as Somatic-Inspired Hatha and Five Elements Yoga.
We also offer Yoga for Children, Teens, Pregnancy and Parent & Baby Yoga. Our studios are light and airy, with natural wooden floors and natural light, providing an uplifting and calming environment for your practice, whether that be in the studio or online. We also off Fitness and Pilates, and courses in Yoga for Beginners, Working with the Chakras, and more.
We have a Floatation Studio offering the unique experience of Floatation Therapy - an open pool of warm Epsom-salt water where you can lie down, relieved from the stresses of gravity and find physical rest, as well as a number of other physical and mental benefits.

Jivamukti Yoga: Your Daily Practice
This Jivamukti yoga class explores the power of repetition. Starting swiftly with Jivamukti sun salutations, this class focuses on how consistency and repetition of movements can have a transformational effect on the body, mind and spirit. Move through this dynamic vinyasa class, and explore the effect of repetition in your own body and mind. You may need a block.
Be Here Now
This Jivamukti yoga class focuses on presence and being in the moment. Get moving straight away with side-bends to warm up, then a fiesty vinyasa yoga class. There's no relaxation at the end, so we recommend you end this practice with a relaxation class! Have a strap ready for some fun variations.
Wake Up and Shake Up
A morning stretch, shake up and wake up class exploring yin yoga poses to wake up the body and shake up the energy. This is a yoga class unlike anything you've done before. Featuring 'tantrum-asana' - great for releasing anger and frustration! No mat needed just wake up, stretch and release all pent up emotion.
Chair Yoga: Play, Release and Invert
Chair yoga can be fun and strong. This chair yoga class uses a chair to release tension in the upper back and shoulders to prepare us for deeper stretches. Have fun with your chair next to a wall and build up to pincha mayurasana forearm inversion. You will need a stable chair to be against the wall.
Jivamukti Yoga: Keep Moving
This short Jivamukti yoga class has a focus on rocking within poses. Rather than finding stillness within the. jivamukti yoga poses, we will keep moving to release muscular tension and restrictions in joints. A perfect class if you're feeling a little stiffer than usual and you could do with moving and rocking to release tension in your vinyasa yoga class. You may need a block and a blanket.
Settle and Centre with Yin Yoga
Our minds often want to run away from things that are uncomfortable, or run towards pleasant sensation. This yin yoga class cultivates our ability to simply stay present and mindful to whatever is happening. Without judgement, we develop the ability to simply stay and widen the inner landscape through the yin yoga poses of squat, butterfly, sphinx, seal and dragonfly. You will need a brick.
Awaken Energy 2: Balls, Blocks and Massage
A second class to move chi (or energy) in the body using tennis ball massage. This class is perfect in the morning to gently stimulate energy or as a prelude to yin class; ideal if you’re feeling tired and want to gently lift your energy with minimal movement. You will need 2 tennis balls or spiky massage balls and a block.
Awaken Energy 1: Blocks, Rollers and Massage
Learn techniques to move energy in the body. You will need 1-2 tennis balls or spiky massage ball, a block and a foam roller. You'll learn how to move energy (or chi, in Chinese medicine) along meridian lines. This class is entirely floor based so is ideal for when you have limited space, and the class is great for those who are feeling fatigued or low in energy. You could even practice this prior to a yin yoga class.
50:50 Jivamukti and Yin Yoga
A quick moving Jivamukti yoga flow followed by some yin yoga. Class starts with swift sun salutations and moves to a handstand practice. You may need to be near a wall for handstands. Then expect a settled yin yoga practice. This class develops the the 50/50 concept by Stephen Batchelor: to be engaged outward for 50% of our time we need to have the same amount of time focusing inward.
Get Moving: Jivamukti Yoga
This short but challenging Jivamukti yoga class gets moving immediately and includes sun salutations, balances, lunges and twists. The poses in this class awaken the energy in the navel centre, we practice yoga with a strong, empowered core so that we can move fearlessly through life, with strength and courage. Not suitable for pregnant students or those with high blood pressure. You will need a block.
Awake and Alert: Tapping and Breathing
Unlock vitality! Perfect for the morning or when you need a pick me up of energy. No need for a yoga mat, the class includes simple energising techniques of tapping, breath work and twists which could be done standing or seated. Class is perfect for all mobility levels, all bodies, all ages.
Jivamukti Yoga: Restore & Renew
This Jivamukti yoga class will release tension from the body and calm the mind. Take this class anytime you feel overwhelmed and could do with a break, or perhaps to wind down after work. Class includes simple movements. breath-work, hip openers, long holds in your poses, meditation and a deep guided relaxation. You will need a block, strap and blanket for the class.
Yin Yoga: Quickly Find Calm
The practice of tuning in to go outwards in the world is crucial to the practice of yoga. This very simple Yin yoga class helps you to move inward to then move outward into the world with clarity and calm. You do not need lots of time or effort to go inwards in order to feel the effect in a potent way. You will need a block and a blanket.
Yin Yoga to Breathe Easy
This simple Yin yoga class features breath work (pranayama) and poses to target the lung meridian to relax the body, mind and breath. The lung meridian, when out of balance, may result in headaches, colds and asthma and when in balance brings us to a place of acceptance. This class also includes a beautiful sun and moon visualisation throughout; Buddha taught to trust the sun, the moon and the truth. You will need blocks, a blanket and a strap.
Jivamukti Fiery Lunar Flow
A beautiful and well rounded Jivamukti yoga class to get you flying to the moon! Learn about the lunar elements of letting go in this class with a focus on the breath and asana relating to the moon, where you'll find plenty of strengthening, standing and balancing poses. You will need a block.
Jivamukti Yoga: Fly Like a Bird
A fun Jivamukti yoga class with a theme of bird poses! A fast and feisty vinyasa flow which explores Asana named after the crow, eagle heron and other birds. You might just learn how to fly! This intermediate Jivamukti shorter class sequences in the bird poses, but don't forget we have tutorials on each of the bird poses if you'd like to take your time exploring these poses
Jivamukti Yoga Reset
When you need to move quickly or you need to find stability within a busy day but you're short on time, this Jivamukti yoga class is the perfect reset. Use your stability and strength in equal measure. This short quick class will take you through the Jivamukti practice reinvigorating you and re-setting your energy levels. You will need a block to sit on and feel free to use the wall for the inversion.
Chants to the Goddesses
If you need strength in your life, it's time to chant to the goddessses! Join in chants of wonderful aspects of the divine feminine. These invocations are to the Goddess’s Durga the warrior goddess, Lakshmyai the bestower of wealth and generosity and Saraswati. the Goddess of knowledge and music, poetry and dance. These chants are said to connect us to the divine feminine, Mother Earth and these qualities. The chants are: Om Shri Durgayai namah Om Shri Maha Lakshmyai namah Om aim Sarasvatayi namah. Open your mind and enjoy!
Chant to Shiva
Are you at a time where you'd like to let go, shift your energy and move forward in life? Try this invocation to Shiva, who in Hindu tradition, represents our inner reality and inner strength. He transforms us out of a difficult and destructive time, allowing us to let go and move forward. He is a great meditator, clearing away old patterns and habits, breaking free of a cycle of painful emotions; chanting to him can free us. According to Hindu tradition, Shiva was the first teacher of yoga. Enjoy this tuneful chant: Om namah Shivaya.
Quick Fix Hatha
This hatha yoga class is a simple series of five yoga poses. If you have time for nothing else, this is the perfect class. All poses are lying down or seated and you'll need a timer. Take your time to get into each pose, pause the video and take long, smooth breaths. Enjoy the spaciousness in your spine and peace with nothing to look at and no instruction, just you in a guided self-practice. A great class if you if you have limited space and time for practicing yoga.
Jivamukti: Hip Vinyasa Flow
This Jivamukti vinyasa yoga class gets moving straight away with a swift, feisty flow - perfect for getting yourself moving in the mornings. With the usual full range of standing and seated poses with forward bends, backbends, twists and inversions, the poses also all focus on the hips. Our hips get so tight with too much sitting, standing and travelling - most of us need to focus on the hips to keep the joints fluid and mobile and the lower back strong. Enjoy!
Jivamukti: Neck and Shoulder Vinyasa
This full, well-rounded Jivamukti yoga class is a vinyasa flow which is a full-body and mind stretch focusing on the neck and shoulders. This class is designed to lengthen the space of the neck and shoulders, an area which suffers so much for most of us in this modern life. Enjoy some delicious neck and shoulder stretching amidst a flowing Jivamukti flow class.
Raise Your Energy with Kapalbhati Breath Work
A wonderful practice for first thing in the morning to raise your energy! This is a breath work class called Skull Shining Breath which is fantastic to improve our focus and energy and get ready for the day. Don't practice on a full stomach or if you're pregnant, and as with any class, don't force anything. Enjoy letting the energy flow!
Yoga for the Workplace: Release Stress
A short yoga class using the wall, perfect if you're at the office, in a hotel room or short on space and you need to quickly release stress. With neck and shoulder stretches and hamstring releasing you'll find that just a few minutes is all it takes to transform body and mind and give yourself just the refreshing pause in the day you need. You'll just need a wall.
Yoga for the Workplace: Ease Tension
Gently ease tension in your body whilst you're at work or when you're seated. This gentle chair yoga class focuses on stretches to ease the body and mind during stressful times at work. It is also an ideal class if your mobility is limited, if floor or standing poses aren't possible for you right now or if you have limited space and you need to ease tension and stretch out.
Yin for Ankles, Knees and Hips
The perfect yin yoga class for those of us who spend a lot of time in shoes, standing up or sitting at a desk. It is equally great after a long day's hiking! Use this class to regain mobility in your feet and ankles and nourish your knees and hips. Yin yoga involves long holding of the poses; stay so long as you are comfortable but, as ever, if you feel any discomfort, do come out of the pose. You will need a block.
Tune In Tune Up: The Crown Centre
This yoga class is all about connection with the divine! The crown chakra is where our ego dissolves and we connect with the source. Headstand is the posture for this class. If you don't have a regular headstand practice, then just place your head on the ground in your child's pose and you'll feel the same benefits.

Often, we have obstacles of cynicism and mistrust in the way of developing a harmonious relationship with ourselves. Wake Me Up Before you Yo-ga
A mini-morning dance energy shake up. Have fun with simple, accessible, fun movements! Wake up and energise with dance.These steps are said to improve brain function, muscle brain function and muscle memory. Suitable for all!! A perfect class for whilst you wait for the kettle to boil or before you get into the shower!! You'll need nothing but an open mind.

Fire Log Pose Tutorial
A short tutorial to help you find the Fire Log pose - Agni Stambhasana - a Yin yoga pose. Often folks struggle with their hips and knees, and it is easy to injure the knees if this pose is not done correctly, so it's worth taking time to get to know how to practice safely. Andrea also discusses modifications of this asana to make things really simple. You will need a block and a blanket.

A beautiful chant which is from Yajur Veda. It means: That is whole. This is whole. From the whole becomes manifest. From the whole when the whole is negated, what remains is again the whole. Call and response the words are: Om Purnam Adah Purnam Idam Purnat Purnam Udachyate Purnasya Purnam Adaya Purnam Evavashishyate.

Start Your Day The Yin Way
We often associate Yin Yoga with the afternoon or evenings, but it’s also a wonderful practice to start the day. This is a short Kidney meridian focused yin yoga class with just three Yin yoga poses and is a great bookend to a more yang class, or a prelude to morning meditation, and is great way to start the day when you’re short on time. You will need a bolster.

Be a Warrior Not a Worrier!
An alignment focused Hatha class based at the wall for standing poses, including the warrior poses. This class uses the wall, two yoga bricks and a strap to make sure that your standing poses are perfectly alighted for your body. The wall is used to give us information as to our alignment. This class is an invaluable tool for checking your standing pose alignment.
Calm Abiding Yin
Settle your energy, settle your focus in this very grounded Yin class which is focused around the Hara, your energy centre. This class is wonderful if you want to tune in to your intuition, your deep-seated centre. This is a heart and lung Yin yoga class. This class is great for overcoming sadness and grief, and is wonderful for clearing that which no longer serves you.
A class that takes place entirely on the wall for lengthening your hamstrings. Ideal if you've just had a day seated, travelling or at work, or after running or cycling, which can really shorten your hamstrings - poses which are ideal for lengthening the hamstrings, not if you have any hamstring injuries, but pefect for gentle lengthening and for relieving lower back pain. You will need two yoga bricks.

Yin Yoga is an amazing energy enhancer. Work with your inner energy, gently, to experience the joy of Yin Yoga. This toolkit is a great daily Yin Yoga practice. Andrea focuses on one pose for each of the organs. Re-discover lost energy gently. A perfect break for anytime in the day to re-set and prevent feelings of stress or overwhelm.
Feel The Fear & Do It Anyway: Jivamukti Inversions
A full, well-rounded Jivamukti yoga class, with a focus on inversions. Inversions are a super opportunity to change our perspecitve on life, and even take a look at the ways that we approach different things in life. This class will strengthen your core and shoulders to prepare your upper body for taking inversions. It doesn't matter what shape you make in the inversion and if you go upside down or not, it's all about how we look at situations. A great class for warming and strengthening, whether you're ready to go upside down or not. Remember to handle inversions with care, our egos can get in the way, so only work carefully and within your capabilities here! You will need a strap.
A very peaceful restorative yoga. Restorative yoga relies on the use of props to rest and relax deeply into poses, to encourage the body to take deep rest, so that you have the appropriate energy at the appropriate time. A recommended class for everyone who has a busy life, to rest, release and restore. You will need a strap, a bolster, and two yoga bricks.
Finding Equanimity: Animal Yin Yoga
Many yoga positions are inspired by animals. This class includes Yin poses, some of which are a bit more fierce, a little less gentle, thank you may be used to in a Yin class. The class focus is equanimity, found from working through themes of nature and animals, who will show us aspects of ourselves, both on and off the mat. Starting from the transformative butterfly through to the sometimes less than good-natured camel, through to the caterpiller which transforms back to the butterfly. Expect to be deeply moved and transformed, as well as finding stillness through Yin. You will need a bolster and/or cushions.

Meditation On Breathing
A short and gentle introduction to meditation. Ideal for after a yoga class, this is a simple meditaion on breathing. You'll find that when you start to focus mindfully on your breath, you gain focus, clarity and insight and you may even find that life is less stressful. One to incorporate as a daily practice!
Your Yin 5 A Day
Just as important as the right nutrition, is the right movement. These very simple five yin yoga poses, each held for 3 minutes will transform your body and your life. If you have a very active life and yoga practice, are an athlete or sit at a desk or in a car for long periods of time, this class, as a daily practice, will quietly and gently open your body. You may need a cushion or a bolster.

Fire Series - The Introduction
The fire series is a set of exercise to strengthen the abdomen which is the key to advancing in asana as well as other spiritual practices. There are 7 exercise that you build up in sets, it helps you to focus on the navel centre and stimulates energy there. if you have back problems please only attempt the exercise under guidance of an experienced teacher and use the modification given on each exercise. Do not do this series if pregnant.
The Stoop Antidote
Do you spend a lot of time at a desk, a computer, or looking at a smart phone? Chances are your shoulders will routinely hunch and round. This is an energising but short smart backbend sequence to open up the thoracic spine. This class is specifially designed to target the mid-back, which is often the stiffest part of the spine as well as the neck and shoulders. You will need two blocks and a strap.
Beginning to Flow Part 2
Beginning to Flow, Part 1
The follow on from the beginners videos. This is a sequence teaching us how to link some of the postures we have learned in the stepping stones and beginners' series together. With plenty of technique and alignment cues, this yoga class is great for those who want to start to flow - for you to develop your practice. Plenty of forward bends.
Strengthen Your Arms to Flow
A short tutorial to show you a few key elements of arm and core strengthening which will aid to to perform your vinyasas with aplomb. If you do this practice 3 times a week, your arms and core will thank you for it. You will need a bolster, a strap, 2 blocks and plenty of resolve.
Rest and Digest
A Yin Yoga class to calm and aid the digestive system at the end of the day. This class is perfect for after a stressful day at work, after travelling (especially long-haul flights) and if you want to detox to aid your digestive system. This is not suitable for pregnancy or if you have an existing stomach condition.
Hamstring and Lower Back Stretch
Relax and Soothe into the Evening
This yin yoga class is entirely at the wall. This means that the wall will aid you to relax and deepen your positions, you can relax into the wall so that tension melts away. This class is the perfect antidote for after a busy day at work. Using a wall changes the bloodflow and improves circulation. You will need a bolster.
Jivamukti Backbend Express
A well-rounded, soulful and shorter Jivamukti practive with a focus on lengthening and strengthening the spine through backbends. Backbends not only lead to a strong spine but also open the front of the body and the heart centre. This is a practice to cultivate love and giving to others. You will need a block.
Protect and Strength for Wrist and Shoulders
Deep Tissue Stretch
This yin class is perfect for releasing the deep fascia, or connective tissue underneath the muscle, which is really resistent to stretching and often can only be really released by a deep tissue massage or a very deep fascia stretch. All athletes, cyclists, runners and type A personalities will benefit from this class and it's an ideal class to take after a vigourous vinyasa yoga class.
A Restful End to the Day
This yin practice will sooth the nervous system after a busy day, or one spent at a desk. With great postures for relieving a tired back, tight hamstrings, this is also a great practice for during menstruation. This class is fantastic for de-stressing the adrenals focuses on releasing stress and fatigue. You will need a bolster and a block.
