WHY TAKE YOUR YOGA OUTSIDE?

Yoga outdoors can add a whole new dimension to your practice. Research has shown that our breathing improves when we breathe on a soft surface and being outdoors can enhance our wellbeing. We’ve put together classes that compliment being outdoors and allow you to connect with your body, breath and nature in a more profound way. Most of the classes in this challenge require little in the way of props and some are designed to be done without a mat. We suggest that you download your favourites to the MFML app, so that you can access them whenever you find yourself needing a quick pick-me-up whilst outdoors. Or, why not intentionally pack your mat and some props for an al fresco practice. They are all under sixty minutes and after savasana we recommend that you continue to soak up the benefits of being outdoors.

This course:

  • Includes 18 classes
  • Is all levels
  • Includes classes of under 60 minutes
  • Is suited to being practiced outdoors

(6) Spaciousness: The Warm Up Sequence

Many of us don’t know where our tension resides so there is always the possibility of learning to create space in the body where it might not be right now. This class explores spaciousness through controlled articular rotation - a form of pandiculation - or the natural opening movements seen in the animal world.

Earth Mandala Vinyasa Flow

In this Mandala Vinyasa practice we will focus on how our ability to ground helps us to be stable enough to balance and transitions seamlessly in our yoga practice and life. There is a focus on the, feet, hamstrings and hip flexors, spinal flexion and extension. A really nice practice to connect deeper into the element of earth. A well-rounded, mindfully paced but dynamic vinyasa flow yoga class. Class is in a mandala pattern, so there is no 'front' or 'back' of the mat - you'll need to practice listening rather than looking at your teacher as you change your perspective. You may find this causes you to listen more deeply to how you feel throughout your practice and move with greater skill and ease to how your body feels. This class will have you feeling balanced, grounded, uplifted and ready for your day. You will need two bricks.

Morning Practice: Awaken with the Elements

This morning flow class focuses on a connection to the natural elements. It is an awakening yoga practice with some qigong. The ancient yogis, Buddhists and Daoist sages believed that we are made of the elements of the natural world. This practice will help us awaken to this connection within ourselves to the elemental world around us. It’s very much like a shorter version of my morning practices, integrating yoga and qigong into mindful movements that help me harmonise my inner body with the outer world. This has a bit of everything – abdominals, hip work, backbends, twists, forward folds and arm balances. Enjoy!
