Preparing to Move On | Kat’s Movement Mission

As the saying goes, if you fail to prepare, then prepare to fail. Many folks I speak to say that they can’t practice yoga at home because they don’t have the discipline. Well, I’d love you to succeed with a home practice. Many of us are soon back from holidays and back onto our mats.

So we prepare for success in our renewed daily routine – how might that preparation look? Well, in terms of our daily practice, I think that the first thing to do to prepare is to make a commitment to yourself.

If you’re thinking, ‘I’d like to practice yoga someday’, that’s just not going to translate into action. Instead you need to make a very real commitment to a daily practice – it’s way better to commit to 10 minutes a day than one hour a week!

The next thing to do to prepare for success is to decide what kind of classes work for you. There’s no point having your 10 minutes of practice time and spending that 10 minutes just scrolling through the site! Instead, make your decision the night before, so the time you have for yoga isn’t ‘eaten into’ by anything.

The other thing that might give you the va va voom needed to practice in the mornings might be getting your cup of lemon, tea or coffee – or whatever it is that floats your boat and gets you excited for the day, ready before you practice. So there’s nothing stopping you, nothing in your way, the intention and commitment is formed. The groundwork is laid, mat is laid out – and you just need to make that start.

Let us know how you prepare for success in your daily practice  in our Facebook Movers Group.

With love and joy
