Unwind & Declutter
A simple, Scaravelli class which teaches us how yoga can help to empty us. This class is perfect if you're feeling busy, anxious or overwhelmed. Just as we create space and de-clutter our house, it's also useful to de-clutter our minds and bodies as you move towards stillness. This class is almost entirely supine, working with bridge position - just exploring the space in the pelvis, the spine and the shoulders, and stretching hamstrings, then we move into standing postures . You will need a strap and a blanket.
Creative Morning Flow
This heart opening vinyasa flow class is designed to help you open up; open up to your potential, your experience, the sensations your body presents, the wisdom and inspiration available to you and to gratitude. Working on creating space in the chest and shoulder area, mobilising the spine and strengthening back muscles - this class will have you feeling wide open and ready to receive. You will need a brick and a strap.
Ashtanga Yoga Flow: Backbending
An Ashtanga yoga class featuring mostly standing poses and a focus on backbending. A wonderful, invigorating class, the perfect way to start the day. With sun salutations, standing poses and a few backbends, this is a wonderfully energising but accessible way of practicing Ashtanga. You may need bricks, a belt, a block and a blanket.
Feisty Vinyasa: Exploring butterfly
Exploring the butterfly theme. An adventurous, advanced vinyasa class which opens up the shoulders, chest and features backbends as well as balances. We recommend that you're already warmed up and ready to go, and the class flows swiftly into challenging poses and sequences. You'll need to finish the class with a long relaxation, so do go ahead and pick a relaxation class for afterwards. Expect variations on inversions and backbends and prepare to explore the transitioning butterfly.
Release Tension in the Upper Back
This gentle, all level, alignment based yoga class will help you to release tension from your upper back and neck. Learn how to open your upper back gently and safely with some helpful alignment tips to stop you from bending from the most mobile part of your back, and to start to bend from the usually 'stuck' with tension area between the shoulder blades. Great to practice at any time of the day, this class will improve your energy levels and help leave you feel invigorated. You will need a rolled up tee-shirt, a bolster, foam block and eye bag.
Progress Your Practice: Backbends
The third class in progressing your practice series, this beginners yoga class focuses on backbends. Backbends help to keep the back and shoulders open after days hunched over a computer or smartphone and are essential to keep the back and spine healthy. With some slow flow and twists to counterbalance your backbending class. You will need a blanket, rolled up and two bricks.
Lengthening the Spine
Walk taller with this work-shop style scaravelli yoga class with focus on the spine and how to lengthen the spine in our yoga practice. There is a division at the back of the waist - from this point the spine lengthens down towards our tail and feet, helping us feel grounded and balanced. When the body finds this connection, we are free to experience lightness rising up into the upper body. Our movements become more free and spacious. Discover the magical key to balance at our gravitational centre, and wake up your spine to wake up your body! Showing how to practice with real length in the spine in our everyday yoga poses. You will need a strap.
Progress Your Practice: Forward Folding Flow
The first in a progressing your practice series, great for those who have mastered the basic yoga poses but are looking to start to flow! The first class in this progressing your practice series is a fully rounded class, featuring some of the standing poses you'll have grown familiar with, but with a focus on folding forwards. Forward folds help to release hips and hamstrings - things which those of us who have seated work may struggle with. You will need a blanket, a strap and two blocks.
Cultivating Our Inner Light
A beautiful flow to open the heart, warm the back and still the mind. In the Yoga Sutra, the busy mind is described as quieting down through a number of ways: lengthening the breath, concentration on objects, or on experiences in deep sleep or dream states. It is also suggested that the mind can be quieted by concentration on the ever-present source of light that is believed to dwell inside the human heart. This light grows brighter when we do practices – like polishing a jewel that begins to shine and reflects the light all around it. We’ll look at ways to work with sunlight and moonlight in this fluid vinyasa-based sequence, and help awaken the source of light within each of us.
