Catherine Annis

Catherine Annis is well known for her imaginative and practical approach to yoga. After teaching the Triyoga teacher training course for 6 years, she created Intelligent Yoga Teacher Training, a practical and anatomy focused yoga teaching diploma, with guest teachers Peter Blackaby and Gary Carter, based in Central London.

Originally a professional dancer, Catherine Annis discovered yoga as a teenager in the 1970s. She’s explored many styles of yoga during her yoga journey, including Iyengar, Sivananda and Astanga but finds the strong, deep and meditative approach of Vanda Scaravelli most nourishing.

Catherine’s practice and teaching focuses on deepening physical awareness and alignment to reveal the natural freedom of the body, particularly the spine. She is an attentive and thoughtful teacher, and highly skilled at adapting poses to accommodate all levels and types of students, so that everyone leaves class feeling that they have made a fresh discovery about their yoga practice.

Catherine teaches regular weekly classes in London and leads retreats at various locations in India and Europe. She created the first Scaravelli inspired immersion course, which is now held annually in Sussex, and is regularly invited to teach workshops throughout the UK, and internationally.
