Everyone needs a holiday once in a while. And what better way to spend your time than on a Yoga Retreat with one of our fabulous teachers? Andrew McGonigle, aka Dr Yogi, invites you to practice with him in the South West of France this September.
I’m delighted to be hosting a yoga retreat with the wonderful Annabel Chown. A luxurious week of energising, nourishing Hatha Yoga, with superb accommodation, gourmet food and time to relax in the sunshine.
Daily Routine
Your day will begin with a delicious light breakfast served on the terrace, after which there’ll be a morning yoga class. This will be an energising and uplifting practice, with alignment, some flow, breathwork and philosophy woven through.
After lunch there will be plenty of time to relax, swimming in the beautiful salt water pool, or exploring the local villages.
There will also be a late afternoon yoga session, which will include restorative postures and meditation, as well as some fun explorations of anatomy and alignment.
Beautiful Location
Daily yoga practice will take place either in our beautiful studio with stunning views over rolling countryside or outside in the meadow where practice will end with the sound of the ancient church bells rolling gently through the valley, as they have for hundreds of years.
La Balie is a collection of beautiful 16th Century farm buildings three of which have been converted into light and airy cottages containing a total of eight charming bedrooms each with their own luxury bathroom. Each of the cottages has its own sitting room, fully equipped kitchen, satellite TV and WiFi.
Delicious Food
Great food and wine are a core part of life at La Balie! They offer a wide variety of delicious and healthy menus at La Balie and combine Mediterranean inspiration with the spices and herbs of Asia and the Middle East.
All ingredients are sourced from local markets or suppliers, as are the excellent selection of wines. Your retreat includes all your meals except for one lunch and one dinner which we’ll have at local restaurants and for which we’ll ask you to share the cost.
Menus at La Balie are tailored for each event but are always innovative, delicious and beautifully presented. We’ll also be serving a selection of delicious wines sourced from local vineyards.
Swim, Read, Relax
After a dynamic morning yoga session and a delicious lunch, there will be plenty of time to relax by the pool, swim, read and visit the pretty medieval villages surrounding La Balie. Included in your retreat is an evening visit to the beautiful bastide village of Monpazier where we’ll also have dinner and a morning visit to the pretty market town of Villereal where you’ll experience the delights of a traditional French market and where we’ll have lunch.
