Yoga Workshop for Sleep Recovery
Sunday 25th April 2021 – 5pm-7pm
Join Movement for Modern Life and Lisa Sanfilippo, author, psychotherapist and MFML yoga teacher, to learn how to reclaim your sleep through yoga! Sleep is so important for overall health, but for a multitude of reasons, many of us are not getting enough good quality rest. This live online workshop will help you learn how to change that using a yoga for sleep practice and breath work.
You will learn about your sleep type, how to repair your rest, what you may be doing to sabotage your sleep (no, it’s not just coffee and screens!) and how to do the small things that make the biggest difference to your rest.
Discover the Five Sleep Recovery Steps, how to restore a jangled nervous system, how to manage pandemic anxiety, seasonal sleep problems, parental insomnia, menopause, and more.
The workshop will start with a brief talk and the Sleep Type Quiz, followed by a simple yoga sleep sequence, breath work to support sleep and will end with a Q&A with Lisa.
You will be given the keys to get the most out of these yoga practices with personalised feedback. It is suitable for all abilities.
Simple Sleep Sequence | This is a series of yoga poses to help pull out tension from the body, simple body-unwinding techniques to provide immediate relief.
Drop Breath | A variant, or way of using Ujjayii, that we now use as a key component of the Simple Sleep Sequence is the Drop Breath.
3 Part Breathing | Using the breath to fill your abdomen, diaphragm and chest, then releasing it.
Restorative poses | These are yoga poses which help to relieve tension in the body and trigger the relaxation response.
The live online yoga for sleep workshop will take place on Zoom and you will receive the link the day before the workshop.
Lisa offers yoga practices and experiences that peel away physical tension to develop greater insight into the body, emotions, soul and spirit. Her insightful guidance helps build awareness, physical healing and sustainable strength of character. She is dedicated to bringing you enjoyable challenges- with principles and inspiration drawn from biomechanical alignment, alchemical traditions, energy anatomy, depth psychology, philosophy and neuroscience. She teaches Yoga Therapy for Insomnia + Sleep Recovery on the faculty of the Yogacampus Yoga Therapy Diploma and as continuing professional development for teachers.
