Summer Solstice, also known as midsummer, brings the peak of the power of light. It’s an opportunity to cultivate your dreams and desires. Let this light empower your inner-strength, self-confidence, and courage; let it fire up your passion and joy.
Join our community of MFML-Movers as we Celebrate the Summer Solstice (AND International Yoga Day) on Wednesday, 21 June!
This energetic and energising class is a chance to honour and nourish your inner light and acknowledge where we are at in the cycle of the year.
What to expect:
- The class begins with intention setting (thinking on what you’d like to cultivate for the second half of the year)
- Followed by some slow guided stretching and breathing
- Then comes the joyful “dancing like nobody’s watching”, allowing the body to move the way it wants to move
- We close with a guided meditation and relaxation to ground the energy.
The live online workshop is suitable for all levels and Dirish will lead with clear step-by-step progressions so have no fear!
What is the solstice and why should we celebrate it?
The solstice is a powerful and sacred event that has been celebrated for centuries by people all around the world. It is a way to honour the power of the sun and mark the changing of the seasons.
During the summer solstice, the sun is at its highest point in the sky, and the days are the longest. It was seen as a time of abundance and fertility and people would hold ceremonies to honour the sun and pray for a good harvest. It’s also thought to be a time when the veil between worlds was thin, so it was easier to communicate with spirits and ancestors. In some traditions, people would light bonfires and stay up all night to celebrate the solstice, honour the sun and connect with the spiritual realm.
By continuing to celebrate solstice, we connect with our spiritual selves, set potent intentions, and connect with our roots and ancestors. In a world that can feel disconnected from nature, celebrating the solstice is a way to rekindle that connection, to recognise the changes happening around us, and remind ourselves of our place in the world.
Solstice can be a time of personal reflection and is a powerful moment to set intentions for the coming season, whilst also releasing what no longer serves us, so we can welcome new beginnings. By taking the time to honour the solstice with ritual and intention (such as dance!), we tap into the power of the sun and mother nature, and we can harness this power for our lives here and now.
Celebrate, dance and feel the power of the summer sun with us!

Cost
We know that some of you are facing some real cost-dilemmas and we know that sometimes our wellbeing practices are the first to suffer when life gets hard.
We want you to know that we are there for you.
Therefore, we are trialing a ‘Pay As You Can’ for our MFML workshops.
There is a suggested price, which we ask you to pay, if you have the means. The suggested price is the ‘true cost’ of running the workshop, and this is £25.
If finances might get in the way of you joining, you can pay what you can afford, and therefore you are still able to join. This is the Buddhist system of Dana. The minimum that we can accept is £5, because like you, we are also struggling at these times.
Those of you do have the means, please do feel free to pay more than the suggested price. We want so much to continue to support you for years to come with online workshops and community gatherings. However, we can only do that if we continue to have your support through tougher times.
Please do get in touch if you have any queries whatsoever about the workshop, about payment, or any concerns at all. We really love to hear from you.
