A Live Online Workshop Series with Dan Peppiatt
14th September – 19th October 2021
Do you want to learn to meditate but don’t know where to start? Perhaps you’re struggling with meditation? Or maybe you want deepen your practice and move beyond just concentration techniques?
Join Movement for Modern Life and Dan Peppiatt for a six-week live online meditation course to help you find lasting happiness. This is a chance to develop your meditation practice within the context of a ‘sangha’, which is a group of meditators that come together as a community to support each other.
Dan has a unique and fun approach to meditation and this course will give you the opportunity to ask him questions, discuss issues with your practice and interact with the community.
The one hour sessions will run every Tuesday at 7pm for six weeks from 14th September 2021.
The Schedule
Week 1: In Search of Happiness
14 September
In week one, we’ll explore what is mental gardening and the importance of sangha. We’ll also discover why meditation is actually really simple and dispel the confusion surrounding this practice. There will be time to make a start with developing concentration as a precursor to mediation, as well as opportunities for questions and discussion.
Week 2: What is Mind?
21 September
In week two, we’ll look at the addiction to mind, attachment to ego and how we seek happiness in the wrong places; the permanent and impermanent. Where can we find the only source of lasting happiness? There will be a group journalling practice and time for questions and discussion.
Week 3: The Magic of Breath – Where Science and Meditation Meet
28 September
The third week is all about the breath. Breath can be used as a tool for focus. We’ll discover common poor breathing habits and the practices to remedy them, plus explore some calming breath practices. There will be time for questions and discussion.
Week 4: Concentration Versus De-concentration
5 October
In week four, we will step away from doing and into simply being. We’ll learn about the de-concentration of attention, star gazing and the perfect breath. There will be time for questions and discussion.
Week 5: No Mud No Lotus – Working With Our Baggage
12 October
In week five we’ll return to the idea of mental gardening as a way of life rather than a separate practice. We’ll discover what is ‘Gom’ and the art of simply being aware. It will be a first look at what we really are. There will be time for questions and discussion.
Week 6: Awareness of Awareness
19 October
In our final week, we’ll see how we can find permanent happiness in that which never changes and an end to loneliness. We’ll explore duality in spiritual traditions and ‘I am awareness’ in practice. There will be time for questions and discussion.
Week 7 & 8: Bhakti Club
26 October & 2 November
Join us for two extra weeks of meditation! In these two sessions, we will come together in our dedication to the practice. There will be more insights from Dan, meditation practice and the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences. The price for these two sessions is £20.
All sessions will take place on Zoom and we’ll recording them so you can access them for seven days after the session.
Dan believes that you can’t teach yoga or meditation; you can only facilitate other peoples’ journey to find a perfectly organic way of practicing for them, something that he calls ‘Yoga Like Water’. He is just as likely to be found experimenting with these concepts free-diving; surfing; on a slack-line or rock face as in yoga.
