Breath Work For Nervous System Regulation

Sunday 20th November 2022 | 10am – 12pm (GMT)

Join us for a morning of breath work with Dan Peppiatt to help regulate the nervous system.

In this relaxed Sunday morning workshop we will dive into all things breath: exploring specifically how it can help us to navigate a balanced ‘middle way’ through the ups and downs of life. You’ll find out how to manage any stress or anxiety through your breath and how to regulate your nervous system.

Managing our nervous system regulation is such an important skill for us all to work on in our daily lives. Once we are able to manage elements of our nervous system we will be no longer hi-jacked by nerves when we need to be calm, we’ll have better management of our reactions to others and challenging circumstances, and we can better ‘show up’ in life for ourselves and for others.

Almost all traditions know that the breath is a fundamental link between the ‘outside’ material world and the ‘inside’ mental state. With this in mind they developed many tools , whether it is explicit such as the pranayama breathwork of yoga or underlying such as the chanting, hymns and prayers found in almost all religions – there was something going on with the breath – but why?

Together we will explore some simple techniques to pick you up when you are down and to ground you when you are in the clouds or anxious. We will also look at the science behind why these techniques work, so that we know it’s not just a load of mumbo jumbo!

Suitable for all abilities and experience

This workshop will include:

  • A variety of simple breath work practices
  • An exploration of how to better manage our reactions
  • Scientific explanations on why this works
  • Techniques to get anxiety and stress under control
  • Opportunities to discuss and ask questions of Dan

Dan believes that you can’t teach yoga or meditation; you can only facilitate other peoples’ journey to find a perfectly organic way of practicing for them, something that he calls ‘Yoga Like Water’. He is just as likely to be found experimenting with these concepts free-diving; surfing; on a slack-line or rock face as in yoga. You may wish to check out Dan’s Ten Day Breath Challenge here.

Can’t make it live?

We will be offering a on-demand playback of the workshop for 14 days afterwards, so you don’t have to miss out!
