YOGA FOR HEALTHY KNEES: LIVE ONLINE WORKSHOP WITH CATHERINE ANNIS

Yoga for Healthy Knees with Catherine Annis

Saturday 15th March | 9-11am (UK Time)

Do your knees ever let you down when you run or walk?

Do your knees feel weak?

Do you get knee pain during squats or in pigeon pose?

Have you ever wondered why you can’t sit in lotus?

If so join Catherine Annis for this brand new workshop exploring how we can practice yoga for healthy knees.

The knee joint is one of the most often injured joints in sports and movement. In this workshop we find out how to strengthen the knee area. The knee joint is the largest joint in the body and one of the most complex.  It connects the thigh bone with the shin bone, supports us as we stand, sit, squat, jump and balance and absorbs shock when we’re running.  It’s under pressure whenever we want to make rapid changes of direction and most challenged when we ask it to make movements it’s not well adapted to make.

This workshop is for you if:

If you’re interested in learning  about how to keep your knees strong and healthy! You want to learn more about your anatomy and how to adapt your yoga practice (and general movement) to support your amazing knee joints, join us to explore:

  • How to strengthen your legs to support the structure of your knee
  • Consider what’s happening when our knees lock or move into hyper-extension
  • How we can build strength and support for knees that are prone to collapsing
  • Common injuries: bursitis, torn meniscus, arthritis, tendonitis, tight IT band
  • Some common myths about the strength of the knee, including whether it’s safe to place your foot against the inside of the knee in Tree, whether pronating is always bad for the knee
  • How to work with hypermobile or very stiff knees
  • How to know when to stop pushing and understand our own unique and very special musculoskeletal abilities
  • If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the anatomy of your knee, or wondered how to work with existing stiffness or sensitive knees, this workshop is for you.
  • Suitable for everyone, regardless of experience.

PLUS – exclusively for workshop attendees, there will be a short Q&A with Catherine, following the workshop, where you can find out more about our Yoga Teacher Training course.

Catherine Annis is well known for her imaginative and practical approach to yoga. In 2017 she created the Intelligent Yoga Teacher Training Course (iytt), a 12 month, anatomically focused teacher training course with world-leading teacher Gary Carter.

Originally a professional dancer, she discovered yoga as a teenager, and has been  practicing since the mid 1970s.  Having studied various styles of yoga including Sivananda, Iyengar, Astanga and various forms of Hatha yoga, she eventually gravitated to the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli.

Catherine’s yoga practice and  teaching focuses on strategies for downregulating the nervous system, working with breath and subtle somatic work to soothe the mind and create more physical ease for those working with persistent pain, stress and anxiety.  She holds a Masters degree in ballet studies, and is a qualified Thai massage  practitioner, and it is this interest in the body which informs and inspires her teaching.

The workshop will take place on Zoom and you will receive the link the day before the workshop. If you haven’t received the link please get in touch at least 2 hours before the start of the class.

Can’t make it live?

We will be offering a on-demand playback of the workshop for 14 days afterwards, so you don’t have to miss out!

Cost

We know that some of you are facing some real cost-dilemmas and we know that sometimes our wellbeing practices are the first to suffer when life gets hard.

We want you to know that we are there for you.

Therefore, our workshops and live events are offered on a ‘Pay As You Can’ basis.

There is a suggested price, which we ask you to pay, if you have the means. The suggested price is the ‘true cost’ of running the workshop, and this is £35.

If finances might get in the way of you joining, you can pay what you can afford, and therefore you are still able to join. This is the Buddhist system of Dana. The minimum that we can accept is £15, because like you, we are also struggling at these times.

Those of you do have the means, please do feel free to pay more than the suggested price. We want so much to continue to support you for years to come with online workshops and community gatherings. However, we can only do that if we continue to have your support through tougher times.

Please do get in touch if you have any queries whatsoever about the workshop, about payment, or any concerns at all. We really love to hear from you.

Hey Anneliese. Apologies, the replay is available for those who purchased the workshop. The free trial is simply to try our range of recorded and live classes. The workshops cost extra. With gratitude.
