The period before Christmas seems to be crazy with present buying, endless amounts of shopping, decorating and cooking…it’s all so fun and can seem magical, but Christmas can seem like a whirlwind caught up in fairy lights.
But do watch out that you don’t get over-whelmed and stressed with all the preparation. It can feel like we’re all spinning a million plates trying to get everything just so, as well as finishing up our projects and work for the year – there’s a lot of pressure!
This can make even the most Buddha-natured of all us feel a bit, well, edgy to say the least. I’ve found myself snapping, feeling a little run down and generally like I’ve taken on way too much for a short period of time, and it’s frankly making me feel a bit antsy.
I’m sure that you’re much more even–natured than I manage, but it really is worth remembering at this time of year, that we’re doing all these activities, running around and doing all of these crazy busy activities, mostly for others. And the best gift you can give to others is your time. Every other resource is renewable – we can always make more money, but we can never make more time.
So it’s a cliché, but this Christmas, see if you can give the gift of your presence. Your mindful, conscious, best version of who you are. This Christmas be the person inside yourself you’re proud of. Be the one who your younger self would be proud to see, and gift the gift of your time. If, like me, you don’t have a big family with children, give the gift of time to those who you are grateful for.
We all have someone to be grateful for, and if you’re not sure who that is, maybe spend the day at a homeless shelter, and you’ll see that none of us are on this journey on our own, we all have someone to be grateful for.
Have a wonderful, peaceful, happy, healthy and abundant Christmas!
With love,
Kat and Team MFML xx
