Kat Off The Mat | Moving Into Accountability

Introducing Our Daily Yoga Accountability Buddy Up Scheme!!

Why don’t you move with me!

Gosh, I can’t quite believe that we’re already greeting the Spring Equinox! Wonderful to see the days get longer here in the UK. Our January revolutions (!) seem a million miles away. Am I the only one who’s finding it increasingly hard as a busy working person to fit my daily practice into my life?

And perhaps we can help each other in the meantime too. Because a little birdie tells me that I’m not alone in finding it hard to keep up to my commitment of a daily practice.

I’ve heard on the grapevine that the single most important factor in keeping to any new goal you’ve set (for me, that’s my sacred daily practice, which somehow keeps slipping through the net, the elusive wotnot!!) – is Accountability.

So the deal is, we make a commitment. Our daily time on the mat. Moving, breathing, meditating. Whatever.

And we have others to whom we remain accountable for the commitment.

I just find that when I need something, I tend to create something around that need. That’s how MFML came into being 😉. And now the itch I have is having people around me to hold me accountable to actually do my daily practice. And that’s where you come in.

This is what I’ll be doing.

1. Starting on March 21st (I thought the Spring Equinox would make for a nice start date), I commit to practicing a routine of a daily yoga, meditation, breathwork or mindfulness 6 out of 7 days per week for the month. Until April 21st.  I may decide to do a daily MFML yoga session or spice it up with a breathing or chanting class, or meditation or mindfulness. If I’m out and about (or on retreat, as I’m actually on retreat from 21 -24 March), I can practice with a ‘live’ teacher. That counts. As does my MFML practice. BUT – YOU will be holding me accountable to actually doing it. Thank you!

2. I will post my picture (or video) on the Movers Facebook Group So that you are there to hold me accountable. I may well post pictures of my practice space, my mat buddy (dog, human child- whoever) , or my feet – as I don’t want the barrier of setting up a tripod to cramp my style in actually doing it. So nothing tricky, nothing glamourous just a daily picture of me doing my daily thing.

3. I’ll also post this video or picture on my Instagram (you can follow me @katfarrants) and I’ll tag #movementformodernlife if you want to follow that tag. If you’re into social media, and like to get a worldwide community holding you accountable, you could also tag   #yogaeverydamnday #yogachallenge #yogadaily #yogamotivation

IF – I don’t complete my challenge – for any day that I don’t post, I’ll donate £10 of my hard earned cash, per day, to my favourite charity, Danyadhara.

Now does this sound like a good idea?

Will you join me?

Will you make a commitment to practice daily and take a picture every day and post it. I’d love for you to do the same!! Then I won’t feel lonely and like a nitwit. I’ll feel like the whole community here has my back. And we have each others.

Join in by let us know in the Movers Group what your commitment is – which charity will benefit if you slack, and as a little incentive, WE’RE GIVING AWAY A COPY OF AMAZING NORMAN BLAIR’S BOOK ‘BRIGHTENING YOUR INNER SKIES’ to somebody who completes the challenge who I choose at random!!

With love, Kat & team MFML x
