Explore the Feet: Online Workshop with Catherine Annis

Online Workshop with Catherine Annis – Explore Connection & Grounding through the Feet

Saturday 24th August | 9-11am (BST)

Join Catherine Annis to discover a few simple yoga and self-care techniques which can transform your feet, improve your balance and posture and literally put the spring back in your step!

Who this workshop is for:

  • You have issues with your feet like plantar fasciitis, bunions, stiff or tight feet, flat feet or very high stiff arches
  • Yoga students who are interested in learning more about their body!
  • Anyone who practices yoga
  • You’re a teacher, looking for some extra functional anatomy tips to help inspire your classes
  • You’d like to discover ways to improve your balance or grounding in your practice
  • You like the idea of having more mobility in your feet or ankles
  • You’re interested in the relationship between the feet, hips and spine

Why do you want to explore your feet?!

How much do you think about your feet? All too often, we forget about them until they cause us discomfort or we find we can’t balance or move as easily as we’d like.

They are our connection with the ground, transport us from place to place and act as messengers between our bodies and the earth.

If you’ve ever experienced issues in your ankles, knees, hips or spine, the chances are that your feet could be involved.

What to expect:

  • Develop improved stability through the legs and spine, starting with the feet
  • Learn about ‘normal’ range of movement
  • Explore ways to work with common foot problems and issues
  • Learn practical self-massage skills to stimulate and soothe our feet
  • Explore the relationship between the feet, knees, pelvis and jaw
  • The chance to examine the anatomy of the foot
  • Find a fresh connection with the ground and experience a new elastic responsiveness in our movement

Catherine Annis is well known for her imaginative and practical approach to yoga. In 2017 she created the Intelligent Yoga Teacher Training Course (iytt), a 12 month, anatomically focused teacher training course with world-leading teacher Gary Carter.

Originally a professional dancer, she discovered yoga as a teenager, and has been  practicing since the mid 1970s.  Having studied various styles of yoga including Sivananda, Iyengar, Astanga and various forms of Hatha yoga, she eventually gravitated to the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli.

Catherine’s yoga practice and  teaching focuses on strategies for downregulating the nervous system, working with breath and subtle somatic work to soothe the mind and create more physical ease for those working with persistent pain, stress and anxiety.  She holds a Masters degree in ballet studies, and is a qualified Thai massage  practitioner, and it is this interest in the body which informs and inspires her teaching.

The workshop will take place on Zoom and you will receive the link the day before the workshop. If you haven’t received the link please get in touch at least 2 hours before the start of the class.

Can’t make it live?

We will be offering a on-demand playback of the workshop for 14 days afterwards, so you don’t have to miss out!

Cost

We know that some of you are facing some real cost-dilemmas and we know that sometimes our wellbeing practices are the first to suffer when life gets hard.

We want you to know that we are there for you.

Therefore, our workshops and live events are offered on a ‘Pay As You Can’ basis.

There is a suggested price, which we ask you to pay, if you have the means. The suggested price is the ‘true cost’ of running the workshop, and this is £35.

If finances might get in the way of you joining, you can pay what you can afford, and therefore you are still able to join. This is the Buddhist system of Dana. The minimum that we can accept is £10, because like you, we are also struggling at these times.

Those of you do have the means, please do feel free to pay more than the suggested price. We want so much to continue to support you for years to come with online workshops and community gatherings. However, we can only do that if we continue to have your support through tougher times.

Please do get in touch if you have any queries whatsoever about the workshop, about payment, or any concerns at all. We really love to hear from you.
