Lucy McCarthy

When did you first start to practice yoga?

2006 in India whilst working out there acting in a Shakespeare show!

Why did you first take up yoga?

I was working in India and thought I should give yoga a go!

What does yoga mean to you?

Clarity, spaciousness, breath, kindness.

Do you meditate?

Yes, back in 2006 I went on my first 10 day silent Vipassana meditation and I was so deeply effected that I realised for a busy brained person like me meditation was an essential and necessary part of my practice!

What’s the secret of cultivating a daily yoga practice?

Don’t set time limitations or expectations, just get on the mat even if only for a short period and more often than not once you are there, you will delve in!

What practice do you do every day?

A combination of asana, pranayama and meditation in different amounts depending on my needs that day.
